Digital marketing is essential to any business. It is the only way to grow your online presence and without it your business will struggle to grow. But it is not a straightforward task to get your digital marketing skills on point.

For the likes of SEO optimization, you may require the service of PPC agency services, which can help bolster the traffic coming to your website. You also may need to hire a website designer if your site is lacking in quality. However, for the likes of social media marketing, there is a lot you can do yourself without any expert knowledge. There are some big differences in the various social media platforms and from consumers to tools, there are different aspects of each social media platform you should consider.

Facebook

Facebook is perhaps the biggest social media platform in the world. It hosts 2.7 million active users a month, which is a lot of consumers. Nearly every business is expected to have a Facebook page in the modern day. Facebook allows businesses to upload statuses, photos, and videos. It is a very interactive social media with comment features and the ability to contact business pages online. Facebook is currently used by older customers so another platform might be better for your business if you cater to younger generations.

Instagram

Instagram offers its users a very visual oriented experience. Its whole premise is that you say more with photos than words. This creates a less interactive experience, but better for showing off photos. Its visual impact is what makes it so appealing, with every scroll offering up something completely brand new. In recent years, Instagram has really improved its business features. You can now tag products in posts as well as easily repost pictures onto stories. Tags and hashtags make it easy for consumers to find the accounts they want, or the interests they have. The Instagram discover page is also specially designed based on posts the users likes, shares, or interact with.

Twitter

Twitter is an extremely engaging social media platform. Its premise is that you keep things short and sweet. With a maximum of 140 characters per post (tweet), it makes Twitter a very fast-paced social media platform. The idea is you can take in a lot of short bits of information in a short period of time, as opposed to Facebook, where you can go into lengthy detail. Twitter is great for businesses who like to interact with their customers and provide quick frequent updates.

TikTok

2019 saw the massive introduction of TikTok. TikTok is a video entertainment app that consists of short videos. The videos are usually between 10 seconds and 1 minute long, making it a very fast-paced app. The app gained popularity due to a series of trends, such as dancing and humor videos. But due to its popularity, businesses and companies have realized that it can actually be very beneficial to them. It can be a great way to show off products and services as people do not choose what content is on their newsfeed (‘for you’ page). It is worth taking into consideration that TikTok is more used by a younger generation. This might mean different marketing strategies should be implemented to suit the TikTok algorithm.
